Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage (MLDM)

Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage (MLDM) is a gentle, rhythmic therapy designed to support the lymphatic system—an essential part of immune function and fluid balance.

Unlike traditional massage, MLDM uses slow, light strokes to encourage the movement of lymph fluid through vessels and toward key lymph node areas, such as the armpits (axillary nodes), the neck and inguinal region (groin). These techniques work with the body’s natural rhythms rather than forcing movement.

The lymphatic system plays an important role in clearing waste, excess fluid, and cellular debris from tissues. It does not detoxify the body directly, but instead transports this material back into circulation, where it can be processed and eliminated—primarily through the liver and kidneys via urine and bowel movements.

The MLDM treatment I offer is a 90-minute full body session, allowing time to thoroughly support the entire lymphatic system. Each session begins with an abdominal massage to help stimulate digestion and encourage internal movement, complementing the body’s natural elimination processes.

Beyond its physical benefits, MLDM is deeply relaxing. The slow, repetitive nature of the treatment helps activate the parasympathetic nervous system—the body’s “rest and digest” state—supporting relaxation, stress reduction, and overall wellbeing.

MLDM is particularly beneficial for people experiencing lymphoedema, as it can help manage fluid retention and support improved lymphatic flow. It is also a great option for those seeking a calming, restorative treatment that supports the body’s natural processes.
